The Deputy Secretary General of COSATU held a meeting on the afternoon of the 18th January 2018 with municipal workers. During the said meeting, the Deputy Secretary General of COSATU, Solly Phetoe incited violence amongst the workers, to once more embark on an illegal strike on January 19th, 2018 which will have a negative impact on the provision of service delivery to the community of Rustenburg.
The Deputy Secretary General of COSATU, Mr Phetoe even went further by encouraging the Municipal workers to ambush the political leadership of the Municipality until they accede to their unrealistic demands.
The Municipality views these developments in a very serious light, and the Municipality has taken action against the Deputy General Secretary of COSATU, by reporting the matter to the South African Police Services.
Measures have been put in place by the Municipality to ensure uninterrupted services to the community of Rustenburg.
